With Sri Lanka’s on-going boom in tourism and construction, careers in interior/architectural design are in high demand.  Providing an international entry path to this lucrative industry, Northumbria University School of Design UK, one of Europe’s top 5 design schools, presents its globally acclaimed, 100% internal degree in interior design at its approved design university partner AOD international design campus in Colombo.

Northumbria’s Interior Design curriculum at AOD investigates the key aspects of interior design ie. Re-use and re-modelling, lighting and colour through a range of projects that also includes industry collaborations. These modules provide industry recognised

Interior design sector includes many avenues from interior architecture to 3D visualization

expertise for careers in Interior Architecture, Residential Design, Hospitality Design, Furniture Design, Lighting, Landscape & Built Environment Design, Corporate Space Design, Colour Specialization and Retail/Display design as well as relatively new sectors like Environmental & Sustainable Design, Event/ Exhibition Design, Product Design, 3D Visualization Specialization and Urban/ Healthcare Design.

The international faculty approved by Northumbria to teach this programme is led by the American Interior Design expert Joel Rapp. “AOD’s interior designers are trained with the necessary knowledge and skills needed to fulfil many professional roles from project designer, project architect to structural engineer, within a global context, but the programme seeks to breed not role players, but team leaders who will drive projects, firms, and eventually their own entrepreneurial efforts. This will create that essential bridging between the local and international architecture and interior design while AOD’s continuing relationship with local history and culture will help these designers establish a globally relevant new Sri Lankan architectural style” says Rapp.
