Wenhui Award 2013 applications close on July 1

Applications for the Wenhui Award 2013, for Educational innovation in recognition of outstanding individuals or institutions for their significant contributions towards the development of educational innovations in the Asia and Pacific region, closes on July 1.
The Award will be conferred on two individuals or institutions, each receiving a Certificate of Excellence and prize money of US$ 20,000 (LKR 2.5 million), the UNESCO Bangkok Asia and Pacific Regional Bureau for Education said.

The theme of the 2013 Wenhui Award, ‘Educational Innovation for Cultural Expression’ emphasises the importance of values, traditions and practices being transmitted from one generation to another, through a variety of expressions including visual arts, performing arts, tangible and intangible culture and heritage, indigenous knowledge and crafts in formal and non-formal education, community-based initiatives, adult and continuing education projects etc.

Individuals or institutions of UNESCO member States in Asia and the Pacific region will be eligible to be nominated for the award.
