Additional facilities for Varsities to accommodate increased intake in 2013

Cabinet this week granted approval to provide infrastructure facilities for the Universities, to facilitate the additional intake of students for 2013.
Government has given high priority to expand the capacity and facilities of State Universities, in order to provide requirements of the present and the future intake of students, a Cabinet memorandum said.

Accordingly, sufficient accommodation is to be provided for the lecture halls, libraries, IT centers, faculty buildings, administrative buildings and canteens, to cater to the increased needs of the students.

Higher Education Minister S.B. Dissanayake’s proposal to proceed with the relevant construction work, with funds allocated for the purpose in 2013, together with funds allocated under the Medium Term Budgetary Framework 2014 to 2016, was approved by the Cabinet.
