Principal’s Message – Devi Balika Vidyalaya

As a principal who has submitted annual reports to the Best Annual Reports and Accounts Competition organized by the AAT of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Ministry of Education since its commencement in 2007, it gives me great pleasure to forward this message. In Sri Lanka, a national school’s development is funded and assisted by diverse sources including the government, parents, past pupils, well-wishers and various organizations. Hence, it is vital to showcase the school’s progress as well as the transparency regarding the allocation and the use of such funds to acquire further support from these agents.

Some perceive the compilation of a school annual report as a time-consuming task which is difficult to be executed within the busy schedule of a school principal. However, if due attention is paid to school projects and activities and the school’s financial accounts are properly maintained throughout the year, compiling an annual report can be done with ease and minimum time.

The compilation of an annual report by a school has its own unique advantages. It allows identifying the school’s strengths and weaknesses, paving the way to progress through improvement and it also helps to gain the trust of the surrounding community. Our first-hand experiences throughout the recent years have guaranteed these benefits.

Therefore, I would like to extend my gratitude to AAT Sri Lanka which organizes this competition annually in collaboration with the Ministry of Education for giving us this valuable opportunity.

AAT is pleased that it has the opportunity to contribute towards good governance of the country from the grass-root level of our school network through this programme.
