CA Sri Lanka powers Musaeus College Quiz Combine 2012

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) in its capacity as one of the country’s largest tertiary education providers recently sponsored the Musaeus College Quiz Combine 2012.

The quiz combine saw over 60 of the school’s brightest students participating in the Interschool Do You Know Contest for the Dr. Neville Kanakaratne Challenge Trophy which was held for the 12th consecutive year this year.

Chief Executive Officer of CA Sri Lanka, Mr. Aruna Alwis who was the Guest of Honour at the event underscored the importance of competitions which he noted not only encouraged students to study harder and be better and brighter students, but emphasized that such competitions taught them the importance of challenge, victory, defeat and unity.

He encouraged students to continue to take part in such challenges as this lays down a healthy foundation, which will assist them when they embark on their professional journey.

Emphasizing on the CA Sri Lanka chartered accountant’s qualification, Mr. Alwis noted that the chartered accountant was one of the most sought after professions both locally and globally while also enjoying an unprecedented position in society.

“Chartered accountants today play an important role in the Sri Lankan corporate world. Today, our Institute has over 4200 members who are chartered accountants by profession and over 50 percent of these members hold top corporate positions including chairman, managing director, chief executive officer, and chief financial officer among other top positions in big time organisations in the country,” he noted.

Mr. Alwis noted that CA Sri Lanka offers an excellent globally renowned study course, including a unique practical training programme which helps groom the required skills and competencies of a professional.

CA Sri Lanka President Mr. Sujeewa Rajapakse noted that the Institute always endeavors to attract the best and brightest students from across the country to follow the Chartered Accounting course.

According to him, the importance of the Institute’s course has been underscored by the sheer numbers who follow the globally renowned course at CA Sri Lanka.

“Today we have over 37,000 students following the course and over 4200 who are members of our prestigious organization. This is testimony to our standing both locally and globally, and I encourage students from all over the country to join the CA Sri Lanka course and begin a successful professional journey,” Mr. Rajapakse added.
