Udaya Gammanpila Western Provincial Minister, who is an old boy of the school, graced the occasion as a mark of respect to his teachers and alma mater.

Speaking at the occasion, Western Provincial Minister Udaya Gammanpila stated that teaching in a noble profession. It is the teachers who mould an educated society. They help students think critically, process, work cooperatively, tackle students problems and make subjects interesting in a comprehensive manner. Today teachers play a vital role in building up a childs future from kindergarten.

Teachers I believe are the most responsible and important members of society because their professional efforts affect the fate of the. Teaching is a profession that teaches all the other professions. A good teacher is like a candle. It consumes itself to light the way for others. Greet your teachers and let them know how grateful you feel for their support and guidance.

The principal Mr. D.M.D. Dissanayake also spoke on the occasion to felicitate the teachers and said the aim of celebrating Worlds Teachers Day is to mobilize support for the teachers and to ensure that the needs of future generation will continue to be met by the teaching profession.

D.S. Senanayake College primary section which is categorized as a model primary is one of the best in the Island in providing education, love, and motherly care to the children. There can be no quality education without competent and motivated teachers.

D.S. Senanayake College allows students to express their respect, gratitude to their teachers. Students began preparing a week in advance to celebrate this special day. Children respected their teachers by offering flowers and greeting cards. past students also paid their respects to the teachers in school.
