First Sri Lankan to hold a B.E in Biomedical Engineering in the 51 year history of Stony brook University
First proud Sri Lankan to hold a B.E in Biomedical engineering in the 51 year history of Stony brook University, New York. She was one of the top 10% of her class and awarded to be a member of the Golden key international honours society.

While she was doing her Bachelors degree she also did medical research in Cerebrovascular lab at Stony brook University to design treatments for Cerebral Aneurysms and also designed a Radio Frequency coil for microMRI at the Brookhaven National Lab, New York.

On her very first day of primary school, her mother came and left her at the gate and told that she should come first in the school and gave a blissful kiss. The same day when the school bell rang she ran and came to her mother , told that "amma are you happy because I came first to the gate". Mother just laughed at her innocent action and told that "I'm very happy and likewise you should also come first in your studies". From the first day onwards with her parents support she had always been a smart student and maintained her rank throughout out the school and university.

Her childhood dream is to serve Sri Lanka with her education and she wanted to get a world class American degree to achieve her dream. She got best results in G.C.E O/L and G.C.E A/L at St. Bridget's convent, Colombo and got admission to do food & nutrition science at Wayamba University , Sri Lanka. But her dream was to go to USA to obtain her higher studies and in order to do that she went to American National College (ANC Education) Colombo to fulfill her dream. She got the highest GPA there as well and was awarded dean's list every semester. In 2008 she was awarded to be the best student excellence award for science by American National College and further got admitted to Stony brook University, New York and bringing an engineer and researcher for the Mother Nation Sri Lanka.
