ANC Education receives Appreciation Award from Monash University

Monash College at ANC Education has sent approximately 200 students over the last 4 years to Monash University Sunway Campus Malaysia through its special collaboration. Since its inception in 1998, Monash University Sunway campus is increasingly becoming a popular destination for Sri Lankan students. As a fully fledged campus of Monash University, graduates of Monash University Malaysia enjoy equal recognition for their Monash degree as their counterparts in Australia.

Studying a Monash College diploma in Sri Lanka and progressing into Monash University Sunway campus is great value for Sri Lankan students. In this pathway, students have the opportunity of graduating with a Monash University degree.

ANC Education who had been conducting Monash College programs in Sri Lanka since 2007 received an appreciation award last week at the agent appreciation event for its outstanding performance and immense support given to Monash University Sunway campus.

ANC Education has sent approximately 200 students over the last 4 years to Monash University Sunway Campus. Students who complete the Monash University Foundation Year can directly apply to the first year of University and those who complete the Monash College diploma can transfer to the second year of the University program at Sunway campus. Hence in the recent past 80% of the student population completing Monash College programs in Sri Lanka at ANC Education have transferred to Monash University Sunway campus.

As a mark of gratitude to the support extended to Monash University Sunway campus the Advancement team headed by Ms.Jan Clohessy organized an agent's appreciation dinner bringing together a number of agents as well as institutions which conduct the Monash College programs in the region. The invitees were from Indonesia, Pakistan, Mauritius, Sri Lanka and other States of Malaysia.

The invitees were welcomed by Director of Advancement at Monash University Ms.Jan Clohessy followed by a presentation by the Senior Manager of Student Recruitment Ms Jenny Lee. This was followed by the presentation of certificates and souvenirs to agents for their outstanding performance and consistent support shown to Monash University Sunway Campus. The University also provided the opportunity for the agents to tour the campus and the on-campus accommodation.

The events of the day came to an end with the appreciation dinner held at the Saloma Theatre Restaurant in the heart of the capital city Kuala Lumpur. The representatives from ANC Education had the rare opportunity to dine with the Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Robin Pollard and Ms Jan Clohessy Director Advancement exhibiting the close relationship the institution has had with the University over the years. It has been a tradition for Monash University Sunway Campus to participate in the Monash Open days and focused events on Monash University programs organized by ANC Education.

On an invitation by CEO of ANC Education Holdings Dr.Punarjeeva Karunanayake, Prof. Robin Pollard visited ANC Education in October 2010. In January 2011 the University liaised with ANC Education to launch a packaged product with the Monash University Sunway Campus at the Ceylon Inter Continental hotel with the participation of the five heads of school of the University. Pro Vice Chancellor Prof .Robin Pollard also visited ANC Education in August to participate in the annual audit of the Monash College programs in Sri Lanka at ANC Education.

The significantly high pass rates for Monash College Diploma programs in Sri Lanka is the second highest among the Monash College programs worldwide, out performing even it's parent provider Monash College Melbourne. The overall pass rate was 89.19% in the summer trimester of 2010.
According to the comparison of Course Performance Measures for Monash University Faculty of Business & Economics 2010, the progression rate of second year students in Caufield campus who completed a Monash College Diploma Course was 87.8% where as the progression rate of students who did not complete a previous Monash College course was only 82.1%. Also the retention percentage of Monash College students who have progressed to second year of Monash University was 92.3%, higher than the retention rate of students who have not done a Monash College program which was 89.9%. This shows that students who transfer through the Monash College pathway have shown more success in completing their studies at University.

The Monash University Sunway campus is just 40 minutes away from Kuala Lumpur with easy access to shopping malls, medical centres, banks, restaurants and theme parks. Monash University Malaysia offers courses from faculties of Business, Engineering, Information Technology, Medicine and Health Science, Arts and Social Sciences, and Science. Now over ten years old, the Sunway campus of is an exemplar of transnational education.

The campus continues to develop steadily, and now enjoys excellent facilities for world class education and research. It has 40 science labs, 24 labs for engineering, radio and TV studio, auditoriums with 350 capacity each, lecture theatres and a fully equipped library containing collection of more than 51,000 items.

It has a diverse and multi-cultural environment with more than 3,300 students from 47 countries including Indonesia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Singapore, and Korea. Sri Lanka represents the 2nd highest International student community at Monash University Sunway Campus with approximately 302 students.
