We prepare leaders for TRAVEL, TOURISM & HOSPITALITY industry

Our executive education centre, firmly believes that to succeed in this dynamic world, be it an individual or a corporate, continuous sustainable development is paramount. The continued success of the public, private or third sector depends on its most important asset – human capital.

MANTRA EDUCATION - The Business School, having carefully analyzed the learning environment in both academic and professional sectors in Sri Lanka, has demonstrated the important role of charter in providing education opportunities for Sri Lanka’s leading economic driver and the rapidly expanding Hospitality & Tourism industry. In the current Sri Lankan context the government is moving away from the notion that the state should play the leading role in tourism development and instead is seeking a greater involvement of the private sector in the development of this specific industry.

This falls in line with the business school’s vision in looking at long-term vision, keeping the following core areas of values in mind;

n Manpower building and training of high quality staff
n Corporate and social responsibility
n Efficient management of human resources

Increasing tourism related employment from 125,000 to 500,000 by 2016 and the plans of the government to increase tourism based services throughout the island, MANTRA EDUCATION - The Business School will contribute towards this by enhancing the diverse youth in the country who in turn could distribute the economic benefit of the tourism and hospitality development to a larger section of the society and integrate the benefits of the same to them.

As Sri Lanka’s hospitality and tourism education provider, MANTRA EDUCATION - The Business School will take pride in having to mould Tourism and Hospitality graduates in the caliber of Chief Executives, General Managers, Executive Chefs and Tourism Entrepreneurs who will be absorbed into employment. Currently Sri Lanka imports management in these sectors. This could be curtailed in the future as Mantra Education – The Business School, will develop the next generation of leaders by enhancing the management and leadership skills in the already employed workforce in the relevant sectors and, will attract freshers into the industry to give them the career launch they need.

For those studying with us, the Business School will provide distinctive programmes of academic study with emphasis both on professional practice and Leadership skills to enhance the individual’s interactions, performance and career prospects. Through tie-ups and internship arrangements with the hospitality and tourism lifestyle industry, and practicum at commercial restaurants, our participants will receive an education that is relevant to prepare them for their career. As we grow and advance with exciting developments to complement the changing hospitality and tourism lifestyle landscape, we are confident that MANTRA EDUCATION - The Business School will continue to mould the movers and shakers needed for the vibrant hospitality industry.

MANTRA EDUCATION - The Business School has affiliated with the OTHM – Organization for Tourism & Hospitality Management in the UK. This arrangement allows students to transfer credits for higher education at foreign universities in UK with guaranteed internships, either in the UK or USA. Accredited by the National Qualifications Framework, the OTHM is a membership, examination and awarding body helping people to get ahead in the global travel, tourism and hospitality industry. With subject areas in management and functional areas, the students will be hard-pushed to find more industry focused experiential learning curriculum.

MANTRA EDUCATION – The Business School together with OTHM believes in setting up the students for a long and fulfilling career in travel, tourism and hospitality with a professional qualification ultimately to excel in a global growth industry. It will continue to build on its strengths to become Sri Lanka’s foremost institution for human capital development and tought leadership in numerous other industries – Banking, Finance, Marketing etc. Based on three pillars of learning – practical skills, theoretical knowledge, and personal development – our industry-focused programmes are designed to lead students through the numerous facets of hospitality, tourism and culinary arts by developing their operational and administrative expertise, with a particular focus on entrepreneurial, leadership and human skills development.

By doubling as mentors and advisors, our faculty offers hosts a guided academic tour throughout their learning journey with us. Together with our spirit of innovation, long-standing partnerships and dynamic curriculum, we endeavour to build our hosts’ capabilities as they prepare themselves for a successful career in the industry. At this strategic turning point, with an opportunity to fulfil its longer-term vision of improving education statewide, Mantra Holding’s refined strategy continues to create direct impact with students by building quality professionals, and expands its efforts to generate a broader impact in the state – by influencing changes in the industry and advocating for educational reforms.

MANTRA EDUCATION – The Business School also has successfully launched a Language Centre to develop the English Language skills of students. With versatile language coaches, we guarantee results to each individual who engage with us. Mantra Language Centre holds a reputation for providing a wide range of quality English language courses for youth and adults, expert teachers and excellent student services.

We believe in providing executive education via experiential learning. We set a high bar for our executive education and high expectation for its participants. Our programmes demand a great deal from both the faculty who deliver the courses and the students who take them.
