TAFE NSW's Award Winning Institute!

TAFE NSW - Western Sydney Institute was named the 2010 Australian Large Training Provider of the Yearat the Australian Training Awards annual gala event which is the culmination of the state and territory training awards with winners from each state and territory eligible to compete at the national finals.

Western Sydney is home to the nation's best Large Training Organisation, according to the peak national awards body for the vocational training and education sector. The accolade - one of the Australian Training Awards' highest honours - comes on the back of the Institute being named New South Wales (NSW) Large Training Provider of the Year for two years in a row.

Institute Director, Susan Hartigan, was delighted to receive the award on behalf of the staff and students of the Western Sydney Institute. "It was a great honour for me to accept this award on behalf of the Institute," Ms Hartigan said. "The Award recognises the contribution TAFE NSW - Western Sydney Institute makes to a region rich in culture and socio and economic diversity and acknowledges the Institute's focus on providing the very best vocational education and training to individuals, enterprises and communities.

This is a stellar achievement for Western Sydney Institute and a great win for the people of Western Sydney," Susan said. "The Institute has gained a reputation for responsiveness to the training needs of individuals and leadership in sustainable practices and training. We provide education and training which meet industry's future skills needs including for the new 'green collar' sector, traditional trades and professions, and we do this using flexible and accessible delivery modes," Ms Hartigan said.

TAFE NSW - Western Sydney Institute is government owned and offers a range of courses at Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma levels. The qualifications gained through study with us are internationally recognised. Students can be confident knowing that our teachers are qualified and industry trained. An International Student Coordinator is provided at each of our seven colleges, to provide support for international students studying with us.

As a result of our excellent education and training, our graduates are able to go on to further education at TAFE NSW or University, or are identified by employers for their industry-relevant skills and job-readiness.
