Navy impress at Carlton Super Sports Festival

Sri Lanka Navy made a strong impression on proceedings at the Carlton Super Sports Festival held in Tissamaharama from March 19-21 by clinching the Rowing, Sailing and Cycling competitions.
With their strong rowing talent the Navy men swept the Rowing Regatta’s major events. LS W.

imaladasa winning the scull while LS V.Shantha and LS S. Fonseka claimed the double sculls title. In the pair event LS M. Kumara and LS A. Senarath took top honors. Navy also won the fours event. LS H. Amaradasa, LS J. Hussin, LS S. Kumara and LS J. Nishantha part of the victorious team.

They further stamped their authourity at proceedings at the Tissa Lake Tissamaharama by clinching the sailing competition, with Navy’s LS W.Janaka and PO W. Nishantha taking first place, LS. J. Jayasooriya and LS K. Danushka claiming second and LS Marambe along with LS B. Bandara occupying the third spot.

The Navy Cycling team also produced an exceptional performance with R. Kumara, H. Kumara, J. Kumara, K. Kumara, G. Silva and I. Sanjeewa coming taking, second, third, sixth, seventh and ninth positions respectively.
