Umesh sends Kandy Youth CC reeling - Under 23 Cricket

An all round performance by Umesh Karunaratne helped Seeduwa/Raddoluwa CC to come out on top against Kandy YCC on day one of their Under 23 inter-club cricket encounter at the BRC ground yesterday.

Right arm off spinner Umesh Karunaratne’s match figures of 5 for 35 saw Kandy YCC reeling to a paltry 109.The visitors were struggling on 88 for 9 and look they would be bundled out for less than 100 but Kasun Basnayake helped them reach the three figure mark.

Seeduwa/Raddoluwa CC in their turn ended the day on 202 for 6 and have already obtained a first inning lead.

Shameera and Imesh steer Moors

Half tons by Shameera Weerasingha and Imesh Udayanga enabled Moors to end their innings on a formidable 275 in their encounter against Ragama CC on the opening days at Braybrooke Place.
Shameera top scored with 92 while Imesh contributed 50 to bolster the Moors score. In reply Ragama CC were 51 for 1 having faced 14 overs.

Sachitra and Dinidu crack tons

Tons by Sachitra Serasinghe and Dinidu Jayatileke saw Tamil Union make 360 for 7 against SSC in their encounter at the P. Sara Stadium.

Sachitra slammed 120 with 16 boundaries while Dinidu cracked 102 with 12 boundaries and a six with the duo putting on a 171 runs partnership for the third wicket.

Sachith shines for CCC

A all round performance by skipper Sachith Pathirana supported by Anura Prasad and Michael Vanhoff helped CCC to end the first days play on top against Singha SC at the CCC ground.

Sachith’s figures of 6 for 28 enabled the home side skittle out Singha SC for meager 82. Sachith then continued the good work with his bat too by making a fine 71. He also put on a 102 partnership for the third wicket with Anura Prasad who remained unbeaten on 108 with 13 boundaries. Anura was also involved in another unbroken stand of 101 for the sixth wicket with Michael Vanhoff who made 55.
