GEYEF assists to earn a commonwealth state university degree in India

Global Environmental Youth Education Foundation is the pioneer in Popularising Indian University education among the Sri Lankan students. This is the brain child of its founder and the Director General Mr.G.A.W.G.Galgamuwa ( Ex Lieutenant VNF ) , former Director , Foreign affairs , National Youth Services Council. Not for profit, not for Charity but for Services being his motto. and a firm believer that an educated Youth is an asset to the Family , Country and the world. The first batch of students proceeded to Bangalore in the year 1994.

Since then 2800 Sri Lankans have graduated under the Guidance of Mr. Galgamuwa
The primary concern in this programme is;

1. To compete with the expensive higher education opportunities available in private teaching universities in European Countries.

2. To educate the youth in Sri Lanka as they are an asset to the country, providing disciplined graduates , fit to be executives.

3. To introduce A Commonwealth State university Degrees with worldwide recognition.

Partial Scholarship placements
The University of Mangalore has offered 50 placements for Sri Lankan students .The cost of which is between 2 Lakhs to 3 Lakhs only in Aided Faculties .. The following Degrees are available at the following two faculties. Besant Womens College and Alvas college in Mangalore.
BBM. BHRD( Human Resources Development) BSW ( Social Work ) , B.Sc Food Nutrition and Dietries ., B,Sc Microbiology, B.Sc Computer Science/ BCA, Hospitality Science, B.Sc Biotechnology, MSW
The eligibility criteria is 2 A/L subjects with good O/Ls. ) .

Medical Degrees
GEYEF was the first to introduce the Medical degree B.Sc Audio logy and Speech Language Pathology. to Sri Lankan Students.

GEYEF initially started with many colleges in Bangalore. But at present only a few prestigious colleges are with GEYEF.

GEYEF now admits students mainly to the above colleges and few others in Bangalore.
B.Sc Fashion and Apparel -T John was the first college to get the affiliation to conduct the above degree as it had diploma in Fashion Designing prior to introducing the Degree..

The Services do not end with sending students to to undergraduates and post graduates courses and in fact a special bond continues to exist where they have career guidance programmes for graduates. Inauguration of the Association of Sri Lankkan Graduates of Indian universities was an historic event. The Assistant High Commission for India in Sri Lanka in Kandy , His Excellency Mr. Achal .K.Malhotra and the Chairman of the university Grant Commission, Professor B.R.R.N.Mendis jointly inaugurated the association on the 30th of June 2001 at the Queens Hotel ,Kandy.

Services Accorded since 1994
1. To date 2800 students have graduated from Indian Universities.

2. A full Scholarship was offered to a Tsunami affected student. Shashikala a student of Southlands College , Galle. She will be Graduating in May 2009.

3. Sponsorship programme is available for deserving students 12 such students have benefited .

4. Sponsored a government programme with the assistance of the Indian colleges to organise a workshop for 38 Principals and the Secretary in Bangalore. Few colleges such a T John , Indian accademy , Reva assisted in this regard.

5. Organises Carrier guidance Guest lectures for students. Recently organised two such lectures. GEYEF with KALYANA -SLICA - Kandy organised a guest Lecture on " Science Related Field of Studies to Meet the Challenges of the future " . the Guest speaker was Dr. T Somasekhar from University of Bangalore.

6. Motivation programme for A/L s students was conducted at THURSTAN COLLEG. Colombo 3.

7. Students Groups are accompanied to India thereby reducing the overhead cost of parents .This is to build-up the relationship between the students and the organisation.

8. Bridging Program- was conducted for students seeking admissions to any university ,mainly to our registered students. .

10. The membership of GEYEF is available for any Youth between the age Group of 15 to 27. .

11. Environmental conservation programs and social service programs are implemented from time to time with the participation of members.

12. Special project is also implemented with the assistance of the audio logy and Speech pathologists " Caring community for Children's with special needs"

GEYEF has a youth membership of 3095 and branches extends to India , Japan , UK . Australia and Netherlands. Indian Graduates are doing well in Sri Lanka and also in other countries.
