University admissions for students who sat for the 2025 GCE Advanced Level Examination officially opened on April 28, with the University Grants Commission (UGC) announcing that applications will be accepted until May 19.

The admissions process follows the release of examination results on March 31, which were made available online to candidates across the country. This year’s Advanced Level examination saw a turnout of 281,810 candidates sitting for the exam at 2,362 centres islandwide.

Of the total number of candidates, 221,413 were school applicants, while 60,397 sat the examination privately. According to official figures released by the UGC, 176,527 candidates have met the minimum qualifications required to apply for placement in state universities.
