Lyceum Campus Hosts Inaugural Ceremony for the Higher Diploma in Nursing

Lyceum Campus successfully held the Inaugural Batch Orientation Programme for the Higher Diploma in Nursing on 30 March 2026, marking the official commencement of the programme. The event brought together students, academic staff, and industry representatives, setting the stage for a promising academic journey.
Offered by Lyceum Campus in collaboration with Kings Hospital, the programme integrates academic learning with hands-on clinical training, equipping students with the skills and competencies required for rewarding careers in the healthcare sector.
The orientation programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the oil lamp, followed by a welcome address by Dr. Udesh Oruthota, Director – Academic Affairs, Lyceum Campus. The session also featured a video presentation and keynote address by Dr. Mohan Lal Grero, Founder of Lyceum Campus.
A key highlight of the programme is its strong emphasis on practical exposure. Students will engage in hands-on clinical training from the first year, with clinical exposure commencing as early as the fourth month of the programme. Clinical training will primarily take place at Kings Hospital, providing students with consistent, high-quality experience in a modern healthcare environment.
The programme offers an industry-recognised NVQ Level 6 qualification, approved by TVEC, ensuring that graduates meet national professional standards. Selected students will also benefit from a guaranteed career pathway with Kings Hospital upon successful completion.
In addition, students will have access to scholarship opportunities of up to 50%, along with a free bridging programme for those from non-Biology streams, making the programme accessible to a wider group of aspiring healthcare professionals.
Lyceum Campus is equipped with a state-of-the-art nursing skills laboratory featuring advanced simulation facilities, enabling students to develop essential clinical competencies in a controlled environment. The programme is delivered by experienced academics and senior healthcare professionals, supported by structured clinical schedules and continuous supervision.
Students will also benefit from comprehensive academic and personal support systems, along with opportunities to explore diverse nursing specialisations such as Pediatrics, Geriatrics, and Psychiatry. The event also featured an engaging session on “What Makes a Great Nurse?”, conducted by Prof. Mohan De Silva, President of Lyceum Campus, and Dr. Upali Banagala, Director of Kings Hospital. This was followed by the awarding of scholarships and an introduction to the Kings Hospital HR Division. A campus tour was also conducted, providing students with an overview of the facilities and learning environment.
