Youth-led initiatives have long played an important role in shaping communities across Sri Lanka, bringing together young leaders who are passionate about service, leadership and positive change. Among the organisations continuing this tradition is the Rotaract Club of Colombo Citadel, a dynamic presence within Rotaract District 3220 Sri Lanka and Maldives.

Established under the presidency of PHF Rtr. Uleena Udabage, the club operates under the guidance and patronage of its parent Rotary Club, the Rotary Club of Colombo North. It’s formation reflects the continued dedication of former Interactors and past Interact District Council members who came together with a shared vision to extend the spirit of service that first brought them together during their Interact years.

Built on the core values of the Rotaract movement, the club focuses on three key pillars which are community service, professional development and international understanding. Through a range of initiatives spanning health and wellness, education, environmental sustainability and social welfare, the club seeks to make a meaningful impact while nurturing leadership among its members. These initiatives aim not only to address pressing community needs but also to inspire a new generation of young people to actively contribute to society.

One of the club’s most ambitious undertakings this year comes in the form of Blizzard 2026, an exciting event that promises to bring together entertainment and community service on one memorable evening which is organised by the Rotaract Club of Colombo Citadel in collaboration with the Interact Clubs of Kingswood College Kandy, Hemamali Girls’ College Kandy, Mahamaya Girls’ College Kandy, Dharmaraja College Kandy, Kandy Girls’ High School, St. Sylvester’s College Kandy, St. Anthony’s College and St. Anthony’s Convent.

Taking place on the 14th of March from 5.30 p.m onwards at the Dharmaraja College Auditorium, Blizzard 2026 is expected to draw students, young professionals and music enthusiasts alike for a night filled with performances and entertainment.

While the event promises an evening of entertainment, it also carries a meaningful purpose. The surplus funds raised from Blizzard 2026 will be used to donate water purifiers to a school in Trincomalee as part of a community service initiative. Access to clean drinking water remains a challenge for many schools in under-resourced areas and this effort seeks to address that need by providing students with safer and more reliable drinking water facilities.

By linking celebration with service, the initiative highlights how events driven by youth can contribute to real change in communities that need it most.

The night itself promises to be energetic with a diverse lineup of artists ready to take the stage. Performances by Ridma, Yaka Crew, Funky Dirt, Dilo, Chanuka Mora, Khanna, and Band in the Basement are set to bring a mix of musical styles and energy to the audience ensuring that the crowd remains alive throughout the evening.

What makes Blizzard 2026 even more remarkable is the extraordinary effort behind its organisation. Hosting a large-scale musical event in Kandy comes with its own set of challenges and the organising committee encountered several unexpected obstacles along the way. From venue-related uncertainties to the complex task of coordinating artist schedules. Yet, through perseverance and teamwork the organisers have managed to overcome these hurdles and transform their vision into reality which stands as a testament to what determined young leaders can achieve when they come together with a shared purpose.

Blizzard 2026 is proudly powered by Eduko Pathways, the Official Study Abroad Partner. One of Sri Lanka’s leading study abroad consultancies who offers its expert guidance free of charge. Known for helping students secure placements at prestigious universities worldwide, the consultancy has built a strong reputation for personalized counseling and comprehensive support, covering admissions, visa processes and pre-departure preparation.

As part of its collaboration with the event, Eduko Pathways will also host an exclusive Road Show on the 14th of March at the Queen’s Hotel in Kandy from 10 a.m to 1 p.m giving students the opportunity to explore international education pathways while also standing a chance to win ten VIP tickets to Blizzard 2026.

Blizzard 2026 also welcomes ESoft Uni Kandy as the Official Higher Education Partner while also being strongly supported by Hi!! TV as the Official Electronic Media Partner while the Sunday Times serves as the Official Printed Media Partner. Communications and outreach for the event are supported by The Coms Outlet which is the Official Strategic Communications Partner.

Tickets for Blizzard 2026 are now available via Ticket Ministry giving the audience a chance to be part of an exciting evening while contributing to a meaningful cause.

As anticipation builds, Blizzard 2026 highlights how youth-led initiatives can bring people together through music and a shared purpose which creates an evening that celebrates both entertainment and community impact.
