The University of Colombo entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) recently with the objective of integrating scientific meditation research with technological innovation.

The Centre for Meditation Research (CMR), attached to the Faculty of Medicine, explores the effects of meditation from a scientific perspective and has expertise and facilities dedicated to multidisciplinary research, while SLIIT, as a leading IT-focused institution, conducts advanced research in information technology. Facilitating knowledge sharing, exchange of expertise, and joint funding initiatives to advance the science of meditation through technological solutions is also part of the objectives.

The event was attended by Vice Chancellor Professor Indika Mahesh Karunathilake, Registrar K C Sanjeewani Perera, SLIIT Senior Deputy Vice Chancellor Professor Nimal Rajapakse, and SLIIT Pro Vice Chancellor Professor Nuwan Kodagoda.
