3,152 personnel to be recruited as university staff
View(s):A committee headed by Prime Minister Harini Amarasuirya has approved the recruitment of 3,152 academic and non-academic personnel to state universities to fill vacancies.
This includes 1,284 academic and 1,868 non-academic staff. Appointments will be made within the year.
Deputy minister Madhura Senevirathna said there has been no cadre review in higher education institutes since 2018 and there were many vacancies that needed to be filled.
All vice chancellors have been directed to carry put a cadre review in their respective universities and inform the ministry.
Dr Senevirathna also said there will be no increase in the university intake this year as the ministry focuses on upgrading existing
syllabuses and moving toward digitalisation of the universities.
