Ruhuna University student enrollment delay raised in parliament

Opposition Lead Sajith Premadasa on Friday raised the issue of the delay of enlisting students to the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences of the University of Ruhuna.

He told Parliament that more than 200 students are eligible to be enlisted and are due to commence their academic activities, but they have not been given a date to start their educational work.

He said, in contrast, their parallel batches have completed one year in other universities.

The Opposition Leader raised the question expecting an answer from Health Minister Nalinda Jayatissa. However, Dr Jayatissa said that the question should be directed to the Higher Education Minister Harini Amarasuriya.

The Education Times learns that the lack of lecturers and other facilities has been the main reason for the delay.
