Quest International University Strengthens South Asian Presence with IMC Education Group Partnership and New Sri Lanka Country Office

Quest International University (QIU) has taken another bold step in expanding its international footprint by partnering with Sri Lanka’s IMC Education Group to open a Country Office in Sri Lanka.

This strategic collaboration is designed to widen opportunities for Sri Lankan students aspiring to pursue medical studies in Malaysia. Both institutions will also explore broader regional ventures, including expanding into other Asian markets and the United Arab Emirates. The partnership will further explore the potential of delivering licensed QIU programmes in Sri Lanka, alongside joint school outreach initiatives and corporate social responsibility (CSR) campaigns.

Speaking at the signing, Chief Operating Officer Nicholas Goh said the partnership underscores QIU’s commitment to developing globally competent healthcare professionals. “Sri Lanka has long been a hub of academic excellence in South Asia, and this collaboration will give aspiring medical students access to education that focuses on real-world readiness and global mobility,” he said.

Reshaping Medical Education

Moving beyond rote learning, QIU’s medical curriculum trains students to understand, apply, and innovate. Instead of focusing on memorisation, QIU’s educators act as coaches who guide students to think critically and solve real-world problems. This philosophy builds confident graduates who can adapt quickly to evolving healthcare challenges.

The programme combines interactive lectures, problem-based learning, interdisciplinary symposia, and clinical skill sessions that simulate real hospital environments. From their first year, students are immersed in early hands-on experiences — observing procedures and practising clinical techniques under close supervision. Continuous formative assessments, such as bedside presentations and symposiums, ensure that learning is a reflective, growth-oriented journey rather than a high-stakes sprint. QIU’s modern campus in Ipoh is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities designed for experiential learning. Students train in a Clinical Skills Lab featuring high-fidelity mannequins, anatomical models, and mock wards that replicate real hospital settings.

The Anatomy Dissection Hall, Pathology Resource Centre, and multi-disciplinary laboratories give students a strong foundation in human anatomy, physiology, and biomedical science through direct practical engagement.

The university’s facilities are used by external medical experts for professional training workshops — including the prestigious Ipoh International Teaching Week. During the event, the organisers from Ipoh’s main general hospital praised QIU’s “top-notch facilities that provide the ideal environment to train future surgeons.”

Global Recognition and Industry Validation

QIU’s MBBS programme is accredited by the Malaysian Medical Council (MMC) and

recognised by multiple international medical councils throughout South Asia. The university is listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools, making its graduates eligible for global licensing exams such as the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) and the United Kingdom Medical Licensing Assessment (UKMLA).

To ensure its programmes remain aligned with international standards, QIU works closely with world-renowned medical experts, including those from Singapore and Germany. Their advisory input keeps QIU’s curriculum on the cutting edge of global medical innovation.

“We want to provide Sri Lankan students with the best education opportunities, so they can return and serve their nation and their people,” Nicholas said.

A Shared Vision for the Future Through this collaboration, QIU and IMC Education Group aim to empower Sri Lankan students with globally recognised qualifications and real-world competencies. Together, they envision a future where education transcends borders—producing doctors, innovators, and researchers who can serve communities across continents.
