BAMS students complete internship at Karunakarala Ayurveda Resort
View(s):The second intake of the short internship training programme for final professional (2018/2019 academic year) BAMS students at Karunakarala Ayurveda Resort is a collaborative initiative between the Faculty of Indigenous Medicine and Karunakarala Ayurveda Resort, based in Japan.
This programme, established under a memorandum of understanding signed on August 11, 2023, aims to provide in-depth internship training to BAMS students, promote research collaborations, and initiate extension programmes related to indigenous medicine between Sri Lanka and Japan.
The programme is intended to enhance students’ knowledge, skills, and attitudes in Ayurveda-based wellness tourism.
Participants will be exposed to the practical aspects of wellness tourism and gain real-time experience through interactive sessions and skill development activities. In the first intake, 105 students and in the second intake, 36 students underwent the training. 14 students of the second intake were awarded certificates.
The event took place last week at the College House with the participation of Vice Chancellor Professor Indika Mahesh Karunathilake, Dean of the Faculty, Professor Pathirage Kamal Perera and CEO Saman Priyankara and the Executive members of the Karunakarala Ayurveda Resort, the international unit coordinator and the coordinator of the CGU of the faculty.
