The State Printing Corporation (SPC) wants to increase its share in printing of educational material from 2 percent to 20 percent this year, Deputy Minister of Education Madhura Senevirathna said.

The deputy minister made an inspection visit to the SPC main factory recently and discussed how to enhance its productivity levels.

It is expected that the SPC’s printing of school material will increase from 2 percent to 20 percent with the new machinery that has been installed.

The SPC operates under the Ministry of Education and plays a key role in specialised printing activities, including the production of school textbooks, ministry documents, and university certificates.

He said activity books which will be introduced under the new education reforms will also be printed by SPC.

The government plans to maximise the contribution of resources by next year, expand the corporation’s scope further, and enhance employee satisfaction, he said.

The SPC handles about 40 percent of all government printing, while 60 percent is handled by the private sector.
