Wattegama Educational Zone tops at colours awards
View(s):The Wattegama Educational Zone topped the list of awardees in the Central Province Schools Sports colours awards ceremony held at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Auditorium, Polgolla. The runner-up was Kandy Educational Zone.
A total of 1,335 Colours were awarded to those who topped the list in the 15 zonal educational areas of the provinces. Chief Guest at the event was Governor of the Central Province Professor S B S Abeykoon.

36 athletes who showcased their athletic prowess in the All Island Championship meets also received awards.
Three sports directors of the educational zones were recognised for their contribution in bringing out sportsmen. They were, Sanjeewa Weerakkody, Susantha Weerasena, and Susantha Fernando.
Among those present were Deputy Education Directror Atula Jayawardene, Director of Education Nihal Alahakoon and Provincial Council officers.
