MSI Malaysia marks two decades in Sri Lanka
View(s):Management and Science University (MSU), Malaysia, a globally recognised institution, is marking two decades of operations in Sri Lanka through its offshore campus, the Management and Science Institute (MSI).
MSI offers programs accredited by institutions such as Coventry University in the UK and Josai University in Japan. The milestone will be celebrated at the President’s Annual Awards Ceremony 2025, where MSU’s Founder and President, Professor Dr. Mohd Shukri Ab Yajid, will meet with students, staff, and industry leaders.

MSU ranks among the Top 580 universities globally in the QS World University Rankings 2025. It is also listed among the Top 50 Universities Under 50 and holds the 129th position in the QS Asia University Rankings, reflecting its rapid growth and impact in the region.
Within Southeast Asia, MSU is ranked 28th, and globally it stands in the 301+ band in the QS Graduate Employability Rankings, highlighting its commitment to producing job-ready graduates. It also ranks in the 801-1000 range in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2025 and the 301-400 band in the THE University Impact Rankings 2024, recognizing its contributions to research, sustainability, and social impact.
MSU is led by Professor Shukri, a recipient of multiple international awards including the ASIC Fellowship Award for Leadership 2021, the Asia Pacific Entrepreneur of the Year 2017, and the ACEEU Special Recognition Award for Pioneering Leadership in Transformative Education. Under his leadership, MSU has received the ASIC Premier University status, Platinum 5 Crowns, and QS 5-Stars overall rating.
The university has been recognised for its high employability rate, achieving 98.6% graduate employment, endorsed by Malaysia’s Ministry of Higher Education. It has also been awarded Malaysia’s Best University (TVET Education) in 2023 and the Putra Aria Brand Awards 2024.
MSU is known for its entrepreneurial focus, having received the Most Entrepreneurial Private University Award and SETARA Tier-5 Excellent Status for Emerging University from the Malaysian government.
Internationally, MSU has earned accolades such as the ASIC Outstanding Leadership in International TVET Education award and the Doctor Honoris Causa from Josai International University, Japan.
Professor Shukri’s contributions to global education have also been recognized with awards like the Dr. Tytus Chalubinski Medal from Poland and the Distinguished Fellowship Award from Athlone Institute of Technology, Ireland.
