Colombo, Sri Lanka – May 1, 2025 – The Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) was filled with pride and joy as seventy-five students from AECD Studies graduated with Diplomas in Early Childhood Education. The 2025 graduation ceremony marked a significant milestone for both the institute and its students, celebrating the achievements of those who have completed their academic journey and are now prepared to serve as dedicated professionals in the field of early childhood development.

Presiding over the occasion as the Chief Guest was Dr. Kithmini Karunanayake, a distinguished academic and expert in child psychology and early learning. Dr. Karunanayake delivered an inspiring keynote address, highlighting the importance of nurturing children’s early years and applauding the graduates for choosing a path that contributes meaningfully to society.

“You are not just educators; you are architects of the future,” Dr. Karunanayake said. “In your classrooms will sit tomorrow’s thinkers, leaders, and innovators. Your guidance and care will shape the foundation of their lives.”

The ceremony began with the traditional lighting of the oil lamp, followed by a welcome speech from the Director of AECD Studies, who commended the perseverance and passion of the graduating class. “Today, we are proud to see our students stepping into the world, equipped not just with knowledge, but with empathy, creativity, and a deep understanding of child development,” she said. “They are ready to make a real difference in the lives of young children.”

The graduates, clad in elegant academic gowns, received their diplomas in the presence of proud families, faculty members, and invited guests. The audience was visibly moved as each name was announced, signifying the personal and collective accomplishments of the cohort.

The event also featured a vibrant cultural performance showcasing traditional Sri Lankan music and dance, which added a celebratory spirit to the occasion. A photo session followed, capturing the joy and pride of the graduates as they stood together, united by their shared experience and future mission.

AECD Studies, based in Kadawatha, has long been recognized for its comprehensive diploma programme, which blends theoretical knowledge with practical, hands-on experience. The programme is designed to produce highly competent early childhood educators who are capable of creating enriching and inclusive learning environments for young children.

As the ceremony came to a close, many graduates expressed their gratitude for the supportive learning environment they experienced at AECD. “I’ve grown not just academically, but personally,” said one graduate. “This diploma has given me the confidence and skills to begin my career as an early childhood educator.”

The 2025 graduation ceremony at BMICH stands as a testament to AECD Studies’ ongoing commitment to educational excellence and its role in shaping the future of early childhood education in Sri Lanka.
