Joes clinch swimming and diving title for ninth consecutive year

St. Joseph’s College Colombo continued their dominance in swimming when they won the Sri Lanka Schools Swimming and Diving Championship for the ninth successive time last year.

In addition they have become champions at eight other swimming meets. The highlight of their victories was the splendid performance of their skipper Kaushal Manawadu.

Kaushal also participated in the World Life Saving Championship in Australia in 2012, and is a member of the national South Asian Games squad in 2013.

Panduka Gunasekara also participated in the Australia World Life Saving Championship along with his skipper.
Two more swimmers, Nabel Dole and Akshaya Kumarajeewa, have also been selected to the Sri Lanka squad for the South Asian Games.

The juniors too have performed outstandingly in 2012. They won the Junior National Championships and the Junior Short Course National championships. Coach Ruwan Manawadu has been the chief instigator of this success with his careful guidance and in-depth insight into the sport.
