The trip I went to Kataragama

On August 29, we went on a trip to Kataragama. We left home by 12.15 p.m.  We went by a bus. There were 24 passengers in the bus.

First we went to Kiriwehera at night. When we slept, it was past 12 o’clock. The next day we went to Kataragama Maha Devalaya. Then we went to Sella Kataragama. After that, we went to the Sella Kataragama Lakshmi Devalaya also.

On the last day we went to Sithulpauwa Viharaya. We had our lunch and we went to the Hambantota Port. When we came back home it was past 9.30 p.m. I enjoyed my trip.

Goodbye 2012, Hello 2013!

Another year has gone by. It’s time to remind ourselves of the things we did and to make up our minds not to repeat our mistakes again in the New Year. Many people were afraid of the year 2012 as they thought the ‘End of the World’ would take place. But now it has passed and all of it was proved wrong.

The year 2013 is a brand new year. We should try to make a good start and continue it. This year will bring us another new term in school.

We should start happily. Many of us are simply longing to get back to school and I am one of them.
The holidays are given to enjoy ourselves. The term is given to study well and gain knowledge.

So let us say goodbye to 2012 and try to make up our faults in the New Year! I wish you all a
Happy New Year!

My little brother

My little brother is always naughty
Before having his meals he counts up to forty
He loves to play with all his toy cars
For dessert he likes to have Tropica and Mars

My little brother is Thaviru
At times he is kind and caring too
Sometimes he is funny
And makes our moods sunny

We quarrel all the time but again become friends
We are loving brothers and our closeness never ends
We are for each other
For he is my only brother

If I were a river

If I were a river I would help lots of people, animals and plants. People will take water from me and animals will come to drink water from me. I will also provide food and homes for many water-born insects and fishes.

I will also provide water to people for their domestic use. During the rainy season I will become big and strong. During the droughts I will become weaker and everyone will suffer.

On my way from the mountains to the sea I will create beautiful waterfalls. I will fill reservoirs for people to generate hydro-electricity.

I request from everyone not to pollute me by dumping garbage, chemicals and other waste so I can continue to give water to everyone for drinking, to bathe, for cultivations and constructions.

It is important to save me. Life on earth depends on the water from rivers.

A holiday at Leisure World

For the December holidays we went to Leisure World. I went with my mother, father and brother. It was a
1 ½ hour drive to Leisure World. We got there by 10 a.m., and we bought tickets for the dry area.
First we went on the UFO and we enjoyed the ride. Then we went on the Happy Express and my brother got very scared but I didn’t get a bit scared.

After that, we went on the Rollercoaster. I enjoyed it and my brother loved the ride. Then it was time to eat lunch so we ate fried rice with chicken.

After lunch, we sat on a bench to relax. Next we went on the Crescent Swing. I got a little scared but my brother was so scared that he didn’t even come for the ride. Then we went on the swing.

It didn’t go very fast. My mother only enjoyed that ride. After that we went on the Express Swinger. My brother and I enjoyed it so much that we went on it twice.

Lastly we went on the Dodgem Cars. I drove a green car. After a wonderful and tiring day we went home feeling happy.
