Matale football veterans off to Chennai

On the invitation of the Chennai Sports Club, the Matale Football League Veterans team, comprising 14 players accompanied by two officials, will take wing to Chennai, India on January 15 to take part in a series of exhibition soccer matches, at the Nehru Stadium in Chennai.
Matale FL Veterans, led by former FFSL President’s XI player, U.L.M. Latheeb, will be in action from January 17 to 20 against Chennai SC and Wesley SC. Football in Matale has reached greater heights in recent times, and the Matale FL was adjudged the Best Outstation Football League in 2010.
The Matale Football League Veterans team comprises U.L.M. Latheeb (Capt), S.M. Lafeer, K.R.M. Harris, J.M. Nifaz, S.M. Udayakumara, G.M. Naushad, M.M. Rinaz, K.G.T. Bandula, M.L. Hameed, M.B.M. Nawaz, U.L.M. Lafir, H. Jumar, M. Zakeer and S. Lal. The officials are M.R.A. Razak, the President of the Matale FL and the Chef de Mission and R.M. Zafarullah, the team manager.
