Kingston Academy USA believes that "Knowledge Is Power". Our mission is to provide developmentally appropriate practices in a rich stimulating environment that encourages children to learn through exploration. Our belief is reconfirmed daily by new scientific research demonstrating that brain development is strongly influenced by the kinds of early experiences our children receive.

Through active, hands-on play the child will learn language, develop problem solving skills, and master social relationships. The purpose of joining hands with USA is to provide the children and parents of Sri Lanka the opportunity to experience an American based preschool curriculum. Our theme based Preschool curriculum covers math, language, science, arts & crafts, music and movement, physical education as well as the Montessori curriculum.

We follow the educational teaching of Montessori, along with an interactive Preschool Educational Programme of the Kingston Academy USA.

OUR MONTESSORI CURRICULUM MONTESSORI TODDLER / NURSERY CURRICULUM
FromToddler / Nursery, K1 to K2, Children will be exposed to the 6 aspects of the Montessori curriculum: Language Skills (Phonics) Practical Life, Sensorial, Mathematical Skills, Music and Movement, Science Skills (Cultural &Geography) and mother tongue.Children will enjoy hands' on activities (shelf work). They will experience thematic music and movement, stories, art and craft, pre-reading (phonics) and pre-counting (number recognition) skills. We introduce the children initially to numbers and letters indirectly through everyday activities such as songs, stories, rhymes, music etc. Activities will involve Phonics, Sensorial, Mathematics, Culture and Mother tongue, music and movement, art and craft, stories and role play.

OUR MONTESSORI CURRICULUM FOR KINDERGARTEN 1 AND 2
K1 and K2 children will spend more time on the core subjects, English, Mathematics and Mother tongue so as to prepare them for the next step of their education.Children will participate in small and large group activities and discussions in order to express themselves clearly using a wide and ambitious vocabulary.Cultural Awarenesswill focuson multi-cultural activities to enhance the child's perception of the world. Geography is taught by providing globes, puzzle maps of the world.

History is also taught in the unique Montessori time line materials and stories to go with it, passing through various stages including those with dinosaurs, the solar system initially via fantastic songs, a whole project where the children learn about the planets the moon and the sun. For Sciences we begin with biology by providing a range of materials such as puzzles containing different parts of animals, plants, trees & flowers; bird cages, water wildlife, dinosaurs, mini beasts, fruit and vegetable cards. The children will be exposed to real life experiences. During the course of the year, the children help us with planting bulbs, seeds and some vegetables.

Kingston Academy USA preschool will be open for Children's registration and enrollment on 21February 2011 at 9:30 am.
