The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (ICASL) in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and the National Institute of Education organized the 'Sisu Nena' seminar which ended on a highly successful note with a massive student participation at the Viharamahadevi Balika Vidyalaya recently.
The seminar which articulated the importance of accounting for A/L students in the Kelaniya Educational Zone was conducted by Mr. T Dharmarajah, Chartered Accountant, Council Member of the University of Sri Jayewardenepura and ICASL. During the seminar, Mr. Dharmarajah laid emphasis on the Sri Lanka Accounting Standards 19, 29 and 37 comprising in the A/L syllabus. The Institute is one of main authorities in formulating Accounting and Auditing Standards in Sri Lanka.

The seminar also consisted of a career guidance presentation by Technical Manager - ICASL Ms. Anushka Madurasinghe who is also a past pupil of Viharamahadevi Balika Vidyalaya Kiribathgoda and who became first in the commerce stream at the G C E A/L Examination in 2004.

The seminar was well received by participating students as well as teachers from schools including Viharamahadevi Balika Vidyalaya, Kadawatha Madya Maha Vidyalaya, Dharmaloka Vidyalaya, Gurukula Vidyalaya, St. Paul's Balika Vidyalaya, Mahamaya Vidyalaya, Kirillawala Maha Vidyalaya, Jayakody Maha Vidyalaya and Henegama Central College. The Bank of Ceylon was the official sponsor of the event.
