DSS settle for a draw

D.S. Senanayake College settled for a draw against S. Thomas’ in their U19 inter-school cricket encounter concluded at Mt Lavinia yesterday. DSS chasing a target of 155 for victory after being in a precarious position of 39 for 6 managed to end the day on 80 for 7.

Earlier in day the Thomians resuming from their second innings on 6 for 2 went on to make 164 for 8 before declaring thanks to a 65 run stand for the third between Fahim Saleem who top scored with 49 and skipper Ravindrarajah Nirushan. S. Thomas’ 128 in 45 overs (Adrian Kerner 35, Fahim Saleem 28,: Charith Jayampathy 7 for 34, Navin Kavikara 2 for 28) and (6/2 o’night) 164 for 8 declared in 77.1 overs (Fahim Saleem 49, Ravindrarajah Niroshan 32, Chamod Pathirana 42 n.o.: Nadun Pathirana 4 for 18, Malshan Munasinghe 2 for 22) DSS 138 in 41.2 overs (Nadun Pathirana 24, Chamara Kariyawasam 23, Charith Jayampathy 41 n.o.: Pramod Pathirana 3 for 27, Hemaka Ariyaratne 2 for 16, Fahim Saleem 2 for 24) and 80 for 7 in 26 overs (Charith Jayampathy 29, Chamod Kariyawasam 16, Nadeesha Jayakody 20 n.o.: Hemaka Ariyaratne 3 for 14, Chamod Pathirana 2 for 23)-MSA
