Lankaputhra Development Bank to assist economic resurgence in the East
 

Lankaputhra Development Bank is to set up two branches in Trincomalee and Batticaloa Districts to assist economic resurgence in the Eastern Province.

Issuing a press release, Bank Chairman A. Sarath de Silva said that the two bank branches will focus on the development of Small and Medium Enterprises as an important strategic sector to promote business and economic growth since the law and order, and the environment conductive for business is now restored.

He said a team of officers from the Bank will soon visit these two districts, identify the location and establish a dialogue with local district chambers prior to a finalization of such locations. The Lankaputhra Development Bank will certainly play a catalytic role in the correction of economic and business imbalances prevailing in this region, Mr De Silva said.
