Royal fought back from a perilous position on day one to turn the tables to record a convincing nine wicket win over De Mazenod Kandana in their cricket encounter concluded at Reid Avenue yesterday.

Royal were trailed by 28 runs in the first innings, having bowled out for 155 in response to De Mazenold’s first innings total of 183.

However De Mazenod batting the second time found spin duo Gishan Balasuriya and Prashan Kalhara and right arm pacie Kavindu Pathiratne too hot to handle. The trio shared nine wickets between then to bundle out the Mazenodians for paltry 91 runs. Royal set a target of 120 runs for victory was guided by Sri Lanka youth player Kamil Mishara who made an unbeaten half ton to reach the target with the minimum of fuss.

An all-round performance by Sri Lanka youth player Mohamed Shamaaz and supported by a five wicket haul by Mohamad Mahdhi helped Zahira College Colombo to outclass Lumbini MV by nine wickets in the match which ended at Maradana yesterday.
