Nawaloka Hospitals to test Maliban Biscuits in MCA ‘D’ final
A quick fire century by No.6 batsman Anjula Perera and a fine spell of fast medium bowling by Lahiru Dushantha guided Maliban Biscuits to the finals of the MCA ‘D’ Division 40-over Cricket Tournament when they scored a 92-run win over David Pieris Motor Company in the first semi-final match played at the MCA ground yesterday.
Perera’s innings was fashioned by eleven hits to the ropes and three towering sixes coming off in 63 deliveries.
In their turn David Pieris batsmen found tough in handling the right arm fast medium bowling of Lahiru Dushmantha who had a rich haul of six wickets for 22 runs and were bundled out for 141 runs in 33.1 overs.
In the other semi-final played at the Sapper Grounds, Mattegoda, Nawaloka Hospitals beat Mode Engineering by 80 runs to book the other berth for the finals to be played next week.Two half tons by Samila Nadeesh and Deshan Fernando and useful knocks by Gayan Prasanga and Thiwanka Kekulawela guided Nawaloka to put up 228 off 38.1 overs.
Chasing the victory target Mode Engineering batting line was wrecked by Sanka Poorna and Thiwanka Kekulawala to be dismissed for 148 in 34.3 overs.
