It’s Niluka not Dinuka for Olympics!
Sri Lanka Badminton clarifies…
Sri Lanka Badminton refers to the news item titled ‘SLB chief Rohan confident Dinuka will qualify for Tokyo Olympics’. It appears that the SLB president has been misquoted in this news item. What the SLB president stated was that the SLB is backing Niluka (Dinuka’s brother) the Badminton Nationals 2019 Champion, for the Olympics. Niluka is participating in several Qualifying Tournaments to gain the necessary points to represent Sri Lanka at the Olympics, failing which he must rely on a wild card entry.
These statements were made at a press conference about a Level I Classic Tournament that the Western Province Badminton Association announced will begin on the February 24 at S. Thomas’ College, Mt. Lavinia courts.
