Sri Lanka Baseball went to Jaffna and introduced the Sport to eight schools. They also sent a permanent coach to be based there.

His role will be not only to coach the players but also to develop coaches in the Northern Province. The Coach, T. Lukshan, who studied at Ranabima Royal College in Kandy, played for the school and also for the Ranabima old boys club. He’s a reputed coach and a very competent umpire.

Since the war, there has been very little exposure for the students in Jaffna and with the introduction of baseball, they will be able to not just play for the school but they will also be able to represent their province and the national team.

The Baseball Association feels that there are many talented athletes and they can be a force in baseball.
