Spin twins Savindu, Sithuka guide Isipathana to victory over Bens
View(s):Isipathana’s left arm spin twins Savindu Uthsara and Sithuka Gunawardena shared 18 wickets between them as the pair wrecked the batting of St. Benedict’s in both innings to register a convincing ten-wicket win in the Under 19 inter-school cricket encounter concluded at Kotahena yesterday.
Savindu ended with an impressive match bag of 10 for 53 and Sithuka bagged 8 for 50, as the Bens were bundled out for a meagre 42 in the second innings.
The second day’s play saw Isipathana in reply to the home side’s total of 141 resuming from their overnight 73 for 3 making 135. Isipathana despite conceding a first innings lead to St. Benedict’s, fought back to turn tables and coast to an outright victory.
Dudley Senanayaka Central, Tholangamuwa recorded a first innings win over Bandaranayake MV, Gampaha in a high scoring match at Gampaha.
CWW Kannangara MMV, Matugama and Holy Cross, Kalutara who were in command against President’s Maharagama and Vidyartha on day one, as expected secured first innings wins.
Ananda was on top against Dharmasoka MV, Ambalangoda at the end of the first day’s play in the match played at Ananda Mawatha. This match will be continued today.
