Rs.700m to encourage reading habit among schoolchildren- MoE

The Ministry of Education (MoE) has allocated Rs.700 million to encourage the reading habit of schoolchildren islandwide.

As an incentive towards encouraging the reading habit among schoolchildren, the best 100 students in schools islandwide will receive an education trip to China.

Accordingly, students who have read more than 100 books will receive a Platinum award, those who have read 75-100 books will receive a Gold medal, and those who have read 50-75 books will receive a Silver medal.

The overseas trip will be for the Platinum medal winners.  The MoE said that already, 3,000 students have joined the reading programme. – CC
