Sri Lanka paddlers bowed out of the 21st Common wealth Table Tennis Team Championship 2019 at Cuttack, Odisha, India as they finished last in the Super Eight round last week.

The Lankan TT players both men and women started off the tournament on a promising note. The men’s team defeated Cyprus 3-2 and lost to England 3-0 while the women players beat South Africa and went down to host India 3-0 in the preliminary round.

In the Super Eight Lankan women were in group ‘E’ along with Singapore, England and Australia and Group ‘F’ consisted of India, Malaysia, Wales and Nigeria.

Along with India, Malaysia and Wales the Men’s team competed in the Super Eight Group ‘F’ and the Group ‘G’ was competed by Singapore, England, Sri Lanka and Australia.

Sri Lanka Men lost to India 0-3, Malaysia 0-3 and lost to Wales 1-3 while the Women’s team lost to Singapore 0-3, England 0-3 and Australia 0-3 in the Super Eight group matches.

Sri Lanka Men’s and Women’s teams will play for the 7th position against Australia and Wales respectively.
