View(s):The Negombo Zonal Education (NZE) this year too, as it has been doing for about 25 years, is holding its English Day on Dec.5 at 2 pm, at Maris Stella College Negombo, under the patronage of the NZE Director K.A.C. Fernando.
Mr K.A.C Fernando, the then Director of English Education, initiated the publication of the quarterly magazine ‘Fragrance’, opening opportunities for both teachers and schoolchildren to showcase their talent in creative writing.
Maris Stella College Negombo won the All-Island Inter-School Shakespeare Drama Competition, for their portrayal of ‘Othello, while Sheran Costa of Maris Stella College was adjudged Best Actor. About 150 students who have won various competitions in English, at Zonal level and 30 students at National level are to be awarded certificates and valuable gifts on this English Day. - K.L.
