Tina Turner comes out of retirement to promote autobiographical musical
View(s):Tina Turner the legendary artist of the 60’s and 80’s came out of retirement to promote the musical based on her life, on October 17 at the Hospital Club, London. The 77 year old who has sold a combined 180 million albums and singles worldwide came out to support the musical’s director Phyllida Lloyd. Tina: The Tina Turner Musical stars actress Adrienne Warren will open to the public at London’s Aldwych Theatre in the West End next April.
Justin Timberlake who is one of the best dressed live male artists is going back to perform at the Super Bowl finals half time in the US next year. It will be 14 years after he last performed at the same event, then under controversial circumstances. At the time Timberlake joined Janet Jackson to duet ‘Rock Your Body’ and during the performance he accidently ripped off Jackson’s jacket exposing her upper anatomy viewed by over 143 million people live. The incident was labelled “Nipplegate” by the media. Timberlake the ‘SexyBack’ hitamaker took to social media to make the announcement about his Super Bowl finals re-appearance which will take place on February 4, 2018.
Pop star Katy Perry had an embarrassing situation to deal with during a concert last week. Perry encountered a technical malfunction on 16th October as she finished singing ‘Thinking Of You’ at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville Tennessee. She was left literally dangling from a prop of the planet earth on which she was seated as it should have lowered to the stage but instead she was red faced as it malfunctioned. However attendants quickly acted to lower the pop star manually.
Ed Sheeran has been forced to cancel his tour after his cycling accident as reported last week. He is expected to resume the tour on 7th November as he recovers from a fractured arm and wrist.
Post Malone’s ‘Rockstar’ with 21 Savage has held on to the No: 1 position on the UK singles chart for a third straight week despite a challenge from Avicii’s song ‘Lonely Together’ featuring Rita Ora and ‘Havana’ by Camila Cabello and Young Thug. ‘Avicii’s song climbed a notch to No: 4, while Camila Cabello’s song retained its No:2 status. For the first time since it charted ‘Rockstar’ has been able to secure over three million streams within a week. Post Malone’s chart topping song is produced by Tank God and Louis Bell.
The secretive artist called Marshmello has moved over to the top 10 from 17 to No: 9 with ‘Silence’ featuring the vocals of US soul singer Khalid. The electronic dance track has grown over 10 weeks on the UK singles chart since it debuted at No: 83. Marshmello is an electronic dance producer and DJ. In public he appears with a tin like helmet concealing his identity.
Making her way to the UK top 10 is Mabel with the song ‘Finders Keepers’ which advanced from 19 to No: 10 in its tenth week on the chart. Mabel’s single has been on the chart for 10 weeks rising slowly and surely from No: 77. The song features Kojo. Mabel is the daughter of the late 80’s early 90’s singer Neneh Cherry and Massive Attack producer Cameron McVey.
