National ceremony to appreciate Principals and Teachers on World Teachers’ Day

The Education Ministry is inviting principals and teachers of government schools to apply for “Guru Prathibha Prabha”, a national ceremony in appreciation of teachers and principals for their dynamic contribution towards the Education sector.

Teachers are requested to submit their applications to the principals of their respective schools before April 1, and the principals must hand over their applications to their Zonal Director of Education before 01.04.2015.

This national level appreciation ceremony will be held in line with World Teacher’s Day that falls on Oct. 6.

Ministry Secretary Upali Marasinghe said instructions for this task have been conveyed through circular No. 2011/23 of 24.06.2011 and the two letters bearing Nos. ED/01/12/07/03/01 – 27.03.2014 and ED/01/44/04/09 – 29.01.2015.

The instruction letters and the circular can be downloaded from the Education Ministry’s website.

“The Ministry of Education has made arrangements to hold a national level function,” he said.

According to the Ministry, teachers and the principals of government schools can apply for this according to the provisions of those circulars.
Annexure No. 1 (page numbers 11-15) of the circular No. 2011/23 that has been issued to the schools regarding the teacher and principal appreciations can be used as the application for Teacher appreciation and annexure No. 3 (pages 21-25) of the same circular can be used as the application for Principal appreciation, the Ministry said.
