Over one hundred police transfers made after the proclamation for the Presidential election, will remain unchanged, police spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana said yesterday.

He said these transfers were made before the gazette notification for the Presidential elections by the Commissioner of Elections.
“All transfers including 85 Officers-In-Charge (OIC) will stand as they have been implemented,” he said.

Last week, the Sunday Times reported that more than one hundred police officers, including OICs of stations, were suddenly moved out, ahead of nominations for the January 8 Presidential elections.

SSP Rohana said that, “However, the annual transfers of 10,000 police personnel including Chief Inspectors and Sub Inspectors have been held back till February 1.
