Matara traders win at cricket
The Matara Traders’ Association cricket team led by Priyantha Uyanahewa won the 3rd Matara District Inter-Traders’ Association Cricket Tournament defeating defending champs Dikwella Trader’s Association by 9 wickets.

Batting first the Dikwella team scored 46 runs for the loss of six wickets in their allotted five overs. The Matara team won the game with nine wickets in hand and five balls to spare.
The Matara Traders defeated Deniyaya, Devinuwara and Hakmana on their way to reach the final against last year’s winners Dikwella.
Vasika Silva of the Matara team was adjudged the best player in the tournament while Priyantha Uyanahewa the Matara skipper was named the best bowler and U Nazlim of the Dikwella team was named the best batsman.
This year’s tournament was organised by the Pitabeddara Traders Association and teams representing Traders’ Associations of Akuressa, Devinuwara, Deniyaya, Weligama, Morawaka, Hakmana, Dikwella, Matara and Pitabeddara participated. The Kamburupitiya Traders’ Assocition did not participate this year. The Matara Trader’s Association team led by Priyantha Uyanahewa comprised of Shihan Samsudeen, Vasika Silva, Nuwan Asanka, Priyantha Kumarasiri, Nalaka Kumarasiri, Ramesh Kelum, Ruvin Kodituwakku, Jayanath Liyanage, Hasitha Manamperi, Nishantha Devendra, Chelaka Dewasurendra, Wimal Koswatta, Nihal Kaluarachchi and Waruna Manamperi.
