A bigger version of the existing Maalu Maalu Pasikudah property would be established in Kalpitiya and marketed as a beach resort.
The 4+star resort, named Maalu Maalu Kalpitiya, would be constructed at a cost of Rs.1.8 billion, officials said.

It is to comprise 82 rooms with a state-of-the-art conference facility and located next to the kite surfing lagoon. The key interests in this area are dolphin and whale watching attractions for visitors with May to October planned as the kite surfing period.

The resort’s dining options includes two restaurants one of which is a specialty fish grill restaurant and the other a normal full board one added to two bars. In addition, entertainment would be provided at the discotheque available within the location.

Maalu Maalu Resort and Spa is the first resort to have been opened in Pasikudah and has been in operation since May 2011. With its beachside location and panoramic views it is owned and managed by Theme Resorts and Spas (Pvt) Ltd. This management company has recently added another resort to its portfolio, Aliya Resort and Spa in Sigiriya.
