JK hotels gets new management structure

John Keells Hotels would be changing its hotel management structure to create greater efficiency at its hotels, a key official of the group said on Wednesday.

JKH Deputy Chairman Ajith Gunawardena speaking with the Business Times said that the change in the structure of the hotels was an ongoing process to create greater efficiency.

Under the new system there would be a change in the structure of the management of the hotels with Rohan Kaar, currently General Manager at Cinnamon Grand, operating as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the hotels and with resident managers for the group’s hotels.

He noted that this was “based on the needs of the time” and was a change in term of the internal organisation and had no bearing on the public domain.

Meanwhile, Cinnamon Lakeside would be on the lookout for a new General Manager as it would be seeing its present one Denis Gruhier going back to France due to family commitments.

Since his contract period expires in August, Mr. Gruhier would be leaving the country to look after his home front having served for a period of three years.

In the meantime, Mr. Kaar will be overseeing Cinnamon Lakeside as GM until such time a new appointment is being made.

Mr. Gunawardena said they had not yet shortlisted candidates for the post that has fallen vacant. (SD)
