NTB emerge double wicket champs
Led by Sampath Sri Lal, Nations Trust Bank emerged champions at the 2nd Annual Mercantile Softball Double Wicket

tournament defeating Arpico Finance in the final played at the Dharmapala Vidyalaya ground, Pannipitiya recently.
The tournament was conducted by the Mercantile Softball Cricket Association.
Taking first lease of the wicket, Arpico Finance with useful contributions from Umesh Niroshan 20 and Isura Abeysekera 24 n.o, made 44 for one wicket in two overs.
Samapth Bank replied with 45 for one wicket in two overs with Sampath Sri Lal contributing 15 runs and Shammi Pradeep an unbeaten 30 .
Last years champions Maliban Biscuit and runners-up Mobitel Limited were knocked out of the tournament.
In the semi-finals, Arpico Finance beat Colombo Hilton ‘A’ and Nations Trust Bank beat Eskimo Fashion Knitwear.
Shammi Pradeep of NTB was awarded the awards for the man of the final and man of the series. The best bowler’s award was presented to Umesh Niroshan, while the best batsman was Isura Abeysekera both from Arpico Finance. – BM
