Secretary of Sri Lanka Cricket, Nishantha Ranatunga, says that they are not inclined to drop the SLPL T-20 tournament, though there was a major hiccup that led to the cancellation of this year’s edition.

He said, “At the moment our legal team is looking at the possibilities of reviving the tournament on a future date.”
When asked what Sri Lanka Cricket was going to do fill up the void, Ranatunga replied, “We are looking at a another T-20 tournament which will involve only Sri Lanka cricketers from August 9th to the 17th, but it will be played under another banner. At the moment we are in the process of talking to some possible local sponsors.”

The SLC also hopes during the balance period to conduct the semi-final and final stages of the ongoing Under 23 tournament, which would take a break to make way for the proposed T-20 tournament.” – SRP
