A match bag of nine wickets by right arm spinner Malshan Gunasinghe and twin half tons by Malinda Samarasekera helped Negombo CC to record a thrilling six wicket win over Old Anandians in their Sara Trophy encounter played at Ananda Mawatha.

Malshan’ figures of 7 for 20 laid the foundation for Negombo CC’ win as it helped them bowl out Old Anandians for a paltry 101.
Negombo CC in reply made a score of 211 with Malinda making an unbeaten 63. Old Anadians batting the second time made a formidable score of 273 for 7 declared with an unbeaten ton coming from Thaveen Dhananjaya. This left Negombo CC a run chase of 164 in 22 overs which they reached thanks to a fine knock of 72 by Malinda which helped his side to record their second successive outright win.

Crusaders SC cruise to six wicket win

Half tons by Dananja Madusanka and schoolboy Vindu Madushan who together put on fourth wicket stand of 99 and laid the foundation for Crusaders SC to cruise through to a six wicket win over Rio SC Ambalangoda in their Sara Trophy encounter played at Kalutara.

Rio SC taking first lease of the wicket made 147 with Crusaders SC in their turn making 197.

Rio SC batting the second time failed again as they were bowled out for 140 with Vinud Madushan, Pathmanath Perera and Suresh Silva who together shared nine wickets. Crusaders SC set a target of 90 runs for victory was steered by an unbeaten knock of 49 by left hand opener Sahan Galappathi enabling them to achieve the target for the loss of four wickets.
