Jaffna undergrads win Netball title

Jaffna University maintained their supremacy in netball in the North of Sri Lanka by beating Ramanathan Sports Club 49-31 in the final of 
the Vanitha Vasana 18 Netball Tourney, sponsored by the People’s Bank and organized by the Jaffna District Netball Association, and played on the Vembadi Girls’ High School netball court.
The scoring spree of the university team was led by A. Minoshini who netted in 43 points.
In earlier rounds, Jaffna University beat Ariyalai United Sports Club by an easy margin of 32-09 and KKS United by a close 31-19.
The Jaffna University netballers carried away two of the top awards: Best Shooter, which went to A. Minoshini and Best Center Court Player, which was awarded to T. Abitha. The other award went to Ramanathan’s S. Gobika who carried away the award for the Best Defender. The high-riding University team is coached by J. Saravanabavaiyar.
